What is MonaLisa Touch® and what does it treat?
MonaLisa Touch® is a clinically-validated, non-invasive CO₂ laser therapy for women’s intimate health, delivered via the SmartXide PUNTO system by DEKA.
It treats Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause (GSM), vaginal dryness and atrophy, dyspareunia (painful intercourse), vulvovaginal itching and burning, postpartum hypoestrogenism, and cancer-related vaginal atrophy including in breast cancer survivors.
What is the difference between MonaLisa Touch® and hormone therapy?
Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) replenishes oestrogen systemically throughout the body. MonaLisa Touch® works locally — the CO₂ laser stimulates the body's own tissue regeneration in the vaginal mucosa without introducing any hormones.This makes it a key option for women who cannot take HRT, such as breast cancer survivors or those with hormone-sensitive conditions. The two approaches are not mutually exclusive.
How does MonaLisa Touch® work on vaginal tissue?
A 360° probe delivers CO₂ laser energy via the exclusive D-Pulse waveform, targeting both the surface epithelium and deeper mucosal layers without thermal side effects. This triggers collagen remodelling, restores microcirculation, improves elasticity, and increases natural hydration — rebuilding tissue structure from within.Treatment uses DOT-Therapy (fractional mode), treating only a small percentage of tissue per pass so surrounding healthy tissue remains intact.
Is MonaLisa Touch® treatment painful?
No. MonaLisa Touch® is non-invasive and well-tolerated. No anaesthesia is required. Most women describe the sensation as mild warmth or slight pressure. The D-Pulse waveform controls thermal effects throughout, and the fractional DOT-Therapy approach keeps direct tissue contact minimal.
There is no recovery period — patients resume normal activities immediately after their appointment.
How long does a session take?
A typical session takes 20 to 30 minutes in clinic. No special preparation is required beforehand. The 360° probe ensures uniform, efficient treatment of the vaginal canal in a single pass.You can return to work or normal activities the same day. Your gynaecologist may advise avoiding intercourse for a short period after each session.
How many sessions do I need?
The standard protocol is 3 sessions spaced 40–60 days apart, followed by an annual maintenance session. Your gynaecologist will personalise this based on your condition and response. Many women notice improvement after the first session alone.
What results can I expect and how soon?

Can it be used by breast cancer survivors?

DOT-Therapy fractional mode treats only a fraction of tissue per pass, leaving surrounding tissue intact. Five probe types are available (360° autoclavable, single-use, 23mm, 16mm, and vulvar applicator) for maximum patient adaptability.
Are there any side effects?
