Pain-free
Gradual heating in motion, rather than one sharp pulse.
V-Lase runs on the Motus AY platform, which removes hair through gradual, low-energy passes instead of a single hard pulse. No numbing gel, no cooling blast, no flinching and 40–50% of the hair gone after your first session.
Why people come in
Session length runs from about 15 minutes for a small area to an hour for a large one. Most people treat more than one.
Your doctor assesses your skin and hair type and selects the wavelength and settings to match. A small test patch is done first and left to settle, so your full session starts from something we have already seen your skin do.
Shave the area the day before the laser needs the follicle intact below the surface, so no waxing, plucking or threading for four weeks beforehand. The handpiece glides over the skin in repeated passes. Most people describe it as a warm massage rather than the snap of older lasers.
No numbing gel beforehand and no downtime afterwards. Some mild warmth or pinkness can settle within a few hours. Your doctor will advise on sun exposure and what to use on the area in the days that follow.
Around 40 to 50% of hair growth in the treated area is reduced. Shedding happens over the following weeks rather than immediately, so give it time before judging.
Hair grows in cycles and only responds while it is in the active phase, which is why a course is spaced out rather than run back to back. Your doctor sets the interval for the area being treated.
80 to 90% reduction, and it holds. A single maintenance session about once a year keeps it there. Results do vary from person to person.
The things women ask us most before a first appointment. Anything else, call the clinic we would far rather answer it before you book than after.
Far less than older hair removal lasers. Rather than one high-energy pulse per spot, the Motus handpiece moves continuously over the area and raises the temperature gradually across several passes. Most people describe warmth and light pressure. No numbing cream is needed beforehand.
Six to eight for permanent reduction. Hair only responds while it is in its active growth phase, and not every follicle is in that phase at the same time, which is why one session can never finish the job. After the course, most people need a single maintenance session about once a year.
The Motus AY carries two wavelengths — alexandrite and Nd:YAG — and your doctor selects between them based on your skin type, along with the right settings. That assessment and the test patch happen before any full session. Bring up any history of pigmentation changes or keloid scarring at consultation.
Yes — shaving is fine and in fact you should shave the area the day before each appointment. What you must stop is waxing, plucking, threading and epilating, for four weeks before you start and throughout the course. Those remove the follicle the laser needs to reach.
This is why a lot of people come in. Ingrown hairs and the bumps that follow them are a consequence of shaving and waxing; reducing the hair reduces the cause. Your doctor will look at the area first, since active infection or inflammation needs settling before treatment.
It depends on the areas being treated and how many sessions your doctor recommends. We quote the full course at consultation, before anything is booked, so you know the total rather than a per-session figure. Call the clinic if you would like an indication beforehand.
A trained clinician, and the assessment that decides your settings is done by a doctor. The same person follows your progress across the course, which matters when settings need adjusting between sessions.
Keep the area out of strong sun and avoid self-tan in the weeks before a session, and mention any medication you are taking, since some increase light sensitivity. Your doctor will go through the full list at consultation rather than leaving you to guess.
Tell us where it suits you to be seen and which areas you’d like treated. A doctor reviews every request, and we’ll confirm your slot on WhatsApp usually within the hour during clinic times.
